PLT 403 – Airline Flight Crew Techniques and Procedures Syllabuss

Course Description: PLT 428 – Airline Recruitment Preparation provides Pilot Training students with  skills for principles of airline flight crew techniques and procedures.  The syllabus is structured in accordance with Oxford ATPL Book 12: Operational Procedures.

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental principles of airline flight crew techniques and procedures. Students will gain knowledge and skills on cockpit operations, crew communication, emergency procedures, CRM (Crew Resource Management), flight safety, and operational standards. The course aims to prepare students to perform the duties and responsibilities of flight crew members in accordance with international aviation standards.

 

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Explain the fundamental principles of airline flight crew duties and responsibilities.

2. Evaluate flight operation procedures and international regulations.

 3. Apply normal and emergency procedures.

4. Integrate Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles into flight operations.

5. Conduct risk assessment and develop preventive measures for flight safety.

 6. Apply effective crew communication and coordination techniques.

Week 2: Flight Crew Responsibilities and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Week 3: Flight Planning and Pre-flight Briefings.

Week 4: Normal Operations: Checklist Usage and Cockpit Flows.

Week 5: Crew Coordination and Communication (Pilot Flying vs. Pilot Monitoring).

Week 6: Abnormal Operations I: System Failures .

Week 7: Abnormal Operations II: Engine Failure and Emergency Descent .

Week 8: Midterm Examination (Weeks 1–7).

Week 9: Emergency Procedures I: Fire, Smoke, and Evacuation .

Week 10: Emergency Procedures II: Decompression and Ditching.

Week 11: Crew Resource Management (CRM) in Emergency Scenarios.

Week 12: Threat and Error Management (TEM).

Week 13: Fatigue Management and Stress in Airline Operations.

Week 14: Case Studies of Airline Accidents and Incidents.

Week 15: Integrated Crew Training: SOPs, CRM, and Emergency Management.

Week 16: Final Examination (Comprehensive).
