This course provides a
background for basics of electromagnetic field theory, transformers, drive
systems, dc motors and dc generators. Course content: Electric machinery
fundamentals, magnetic circuits and materials, electromechanical energy
conversion principles. Transformers: the ideal transformer, practical
transformers, special transformers, three-phase transformers. Drive system,
motor and load characteristics. Introduction to DC Motors, Equivalent Circuit,
Separately Excited DC Motors, Shunt DC Motors, Series DC Motors, Compound DC
Motors, Speed Regulation in DC Motors, DC Generators.
