This course provides a comprehensive introduction to logistics management, highlighting its evolution from a traditional transportation function into a strategic, interfunctional, and global discipline. Students will explore the fundamentals of logistics and supply chain management, life cycle concepts, and transportation modes including surface, air, sea, and multimodal systems. Key topics include warehouse design and management, handling and packaging, demand and supply management, and the role of information technology in logistics. The course also emphasizes performance improvement, risk management, sustainability, and emerging trends such as green logistics, integrated 3PL services, outsourcing, e-commerce, RFID, city logistics, and humanitarian logistics. Special attention will be given to the impact of new technologies such as autonomous vehicles, 3D printing, AI applications, cloud-based systems, last-mile delivery solutions, and blockchain integration. By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze logistics systems, apply problem-solving and analytical thinking skills to real-world logistics challenges, and evaluate innovative approaches to modern logistics management.
