This is a graduate level course focusing on political history of Europe. The course focuses on the political institutions, social structures, economic systems, and cultural developments that have shaped European civilization. While the first six weeks of the course provides a more Eurocentric account of European political history, the final six weeks focuses on the relation between the historical developments in the modern Europe and the rest of the world. By doing so this course helps students to establish cause and effect relationship in history and to be able to analyse and evaluate this causal relationship.
